Xcel Energy Foundation Awards Grant Toward Fargo Park District Art Program

The Fargo Park District was awarded $4,000 by Xcel Energy Foundation in support of the 2012 Xcelerate Program, which provides free or low cost arts programming for kids and adults.

The target market for Xcelerate is children from low income neighborhoods, New Americans and children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. The curriculum is visual arts experiences brought to the participants through classes and neighborhood events.

“Underserved populations often face increased barriers with language, transportation and money, making it difficult to participate in opportunities throughout the community,” comments Program CoordinatorSam Larson-Frobig.  “The Xcelerate program helps provide free or low cost programming directly to those neighborhoods while also inviting the greater community to participate.”

Xcelerate classes and events are held year round at various locations. Search art classes at www.fargoparks.com for more information or contact the Fargo Park District at 701-499-7788.
